Salinity - 3 of 7
Ready for a really beautiful plot? Find the data page for SATURN 01, click it, then scroll down below this map for more...
The default plots for SATURN-01 show the variables at a depth of 19.5 meters, but the station actually collects data throughout the entire water column. How does it do that? Good question! SATURN 01 is a very special station -- the sensor package is mounted on a cable that moves down and then up again repeatedly throughout the day. So how do we plot those data? The simple time series plots we've been using, with the y-axis representing the value of salinity, obviously won't work. To view these data we need new tools. Luckily, CMOP's data-wizards have just the thing. It's called Data Explorer, and we'll use these on Saturn 01 data to demonstrate how it works!
