Astoria

The highlight of the week was the trip to Astoria, where I met Saturn 1 in person.

After becoming acquainted with what observation data actually is, and learning the importance of criteria such as salinity, temperature, turbidity, and organic particulates to lamprey, it was fascinating and educational to see just what the observation equipment looks like. Michael was a wonderful host and very patient and thorough in his explanations of how the equipment takes measurements and what its capabilities and limitations are.
