Basics of the Program
During the second week of the program we ran into a problem that postponed the testing for our experiment. The pH meter for the system was unable to measure the pH level and we needed to wait for a new shipment of extras so the computer could read and record our data. So instead of starting the project, I dedicated my time to reading more scientific literature and learning how to use the Lab view program. From this experience I discovered how to create an experimental program that captures data for testing and started understanding the basics behind the program we are using that my mentor created. I also learned the basics of the chemostat system and was taught how to fix the system should a minor part break. We also created the new culture vessels for the experiment for prolonged use and I learned how to solder wires as well as how to deal with the electrical system of the chemostat in a safe way. I am ready to begin testing for our experiment next week!
