You are here
Starting Again: June 22, 2009
I'm back interning at CMOP this year, and it is good to be here again. I looks like I will be working in the computer lab as I did last year, although I don't think I will find out exactly what I am doing until this afternoon.
Let me write for a moment about what brought me back and tell you a little bit more about myself. I graduated from Aloha High School at the beginning of the month, and in August, I will be going to Washington, DC, to attend American University. I will be studying international relations, public policy, and the environment. I feel that CMOP has helped me to understand environmental issues, and I hope that this summer will help to prepare me for the coming years when I will be studying a great deal of environmental science. Also, I one day hope to either be an employee of the EPA or a politician able to pass environmentally protective legislation. I believe that protecting the environment should be a priority of the country, and in either of those fields, knowledge about coastal margins will be important if I am working to protect the planet, and also if I am dealing with, representing, or negotiating with people who live in coastal margins. In any direction that I take, I believe that knowledge of the environment and of coastal margins will be important.
So, I'm back, and I'm looking forward to having another excellent summer. I hope to learn as much as I did last year and I hope that my experience will be useful to CMOP.
