Week 5 - Another Day, Another Dawn

One more week down and I am now halfway done.  This halfway point seems to relieve some of my stress and yet it puts extra pressure on me to work harder.  I know that I have successfully made it this far and now I have to keep pushing to make the most of my time with CMOP.

This week I have been doing PCA and have been looking into other statistical methods of analysis.  We have established a new aim: To look at water treatment effects, and now we must determine what water we want to test and which treatment we would like to apply.  The high school intern has been running samples through different equipment and our hope is to be able to combine the results of her experiments with the results from the FlowCAM (and ideally from other equipment as the summer continues).

We have mid-term presentations on Monday morning and my fear is that I will not be able to convey my summer project in a straightforward and clear manner, as well as in a mere five minutes.

Beyond work, this week I was able to bond with the other interns more.  I had the opportunity to go to the beach, see the Fourth of July fireworks downtown by the waterfront, attend a Timbers professional soccer game, and this weekend we have a 10 mile mountain adventure hike planned!
